From Stroud News:
Two Stroud pubs have been completely transformed by new Five Valleys design duo, Crittall + Hill Interior Design.
The firm was founded by friends and designers Alice Crittall and Rebecca Hill, who share a love of interiors.
“We are passionate about promoting local craftsmen and suppliers while also trying to challenge the notion of ‘country interiors’,” said Rebecca.
The pair have recently completed two popular local pubs: The Black Horse in Amberley; and The Britannia in Nailsworth.
“Both pubs have been stalwarts of the local communities, but were in need of some serious TLC,” said Alice.
“Our primary aim was to honour the much-loved atmosphere of the local pub, which has been dearly missed during the pandemic.
“By working with the natural materials found in the fabric of the building, we added layers of tone and colour to compliment the spaces to create a harmonious balance of old and new."
Having tried many of the wonderful Woodchester Wines in local pubs and restaurants, we were pleased to come across their new shop on the road between Nailsworth and Stroud. The grapes are grown on the slopes below the cottage so it was great to celebrate Christmas with a bottle of excellent local sparkling wine, their 2015 Cotswold Classic.
Having spent an idyllic Christmas at Little End with all the family, we have now returned home thoroughly rested. For my son and his youg family, the weather was wonderful of Christmas Eve to play football on the Common, with the snow on Boxing Day a real bonus especially as Father Christmas brought a new toboggan but . A wonderful time had by all!
We have just had a wonderful weekend in the cottage which began in typical style with a visit to Stroud farmers' market. We bought far too much (bread, cheese, salami, wine, cheesecake!) but enjoyed every bit of it. As winter approaches, the hot food and glorious pies look ever more attractive.
Visiting this weekend, our children made the trek to Chavenage House between Amberley and Tetbury to show our granddaughter where they got married. She loved looking round the house and gardens and could finally locate all of those dusty old wedding photos. Sadly no snow like on the night of our wedding - what a wonderful day it was!
Everything you need to know about our beautiful family home in the Cotswolds.
Hopefully this website will give you a flavour of what Little End is like but if you have any further questions, please just ask.
We tend to book by the week from Friday to Friday, but shorter breaks may be possible.
Kind regards,
John and Sheila Snelling
